Huw Evans is a member of the Executive Team and is responsible for the ABI’s external and internal operations. He oversees seven teams and has Executive Team responsibility for Communications, Public Affairs, Membership & Events, Finance & Facilities, Human Resources, Statistics, Legal Affairs and Directorate Support.

Huw joined the ABI in 2008 from the Royal Bank of Scotland Group where he was a senior manager in the Group Strategy team working on M&A, corporate reporting, liaison with the US business and support for the Group Chief Executive.

Huw was a Special Adviser to the Prime Minister, Tony Blair from 2005-2006 and to the Home Secretary, David Blunkett, from 2001-2004. Prior to that, he was Director of Communications for the Welsh Labour Party from 1999-2001. He began his career as a local newspaper journalist after reading Modern History at Oxford University. Huw is married with two young children and lives in North Essex.
