Tenants contents Insurance workshop

Financial inclusion is now a major challenge for public policy. Over recent months, HM Treasury’s Financial Inclusion Taskforce has been looking at ways to extend access to insurance among financially excluded groups. To contribute to the work in this area, Aviva and Aon would like to invite you to a workshop to discuss home contents insurance schemes for tenants in social housing.

The Financial Inclusion Taskforce’s report in December 2007 articulated the Government’s focus on improving take-up of contents insurance among financially excluded people living in rented accommodation.

The insurance industry remains committed to supporting the Government’s work in this area and Aviva and Aon are keen to work with housing officers to develop contents insurance schemes and make them as successful as possible.

The workshop, hosted by Aviva, Aon and the Association of British Insurers, will take place at the Mitchell Library, Glasgow from 9.30am until 1pm followed by a buffet lunch.

It will be a great opportunity for delegates to discuss different approaches to running contents insurance schemes, explore the challenges to running a successful scheme and how to overcome barriers for development.

We are delighted to welcome Mick Johnson from the Department for Work and Pensions, Rory Brown from Glasgow Housing Association and Bob Marchant from Salford University who will be speaking at the event.
