What does Liability Insurance do?

Liability insurance pays for compensation when someone has been held legally liable for an adverse event which causes damage to someone else's property and/or injures them. Liability insurance is generally required by businesses, not individuals, although most travel insurance policies will include some personal liability cover in case you are involved in an incident which causes a claim abroad. Home buildings and contents policies include cover for your liabilities as a citizen and/or as an owner of property.

Because of the cover included in home and holiday policies it is almost unheard of for an individual to have a separate liability policy.

Full details of the kind of liability insurances available to commercial concerns are in the business information section of this site.
