RICHARD HOBBS APPOINTED NEW HEAD OF LIFE INSURANCE AT THE ASSOCIATION OF BRITISH INSURERS

Richard Hobbs has been appointed the new Head of Life Insurance at the Association of British Insurers.

Currently one of the five Directors in the Department of Trade & Industry's Insurance Directorate, he has responsibility for the Lloyd's market and has had the key role in the Government's response to the Lloyd's reconstruction and renewal plan over the last few years. Having been at the DTI since 1970, his responsibilities have included efficiency reviews, internal audit and IT as well as work in the Insurance Division. He has been closely involved in the setting up of DTI's work on the competitiveness of the insurance industry.

The appointment is subject to the Cabinet Office Business Appointment Rules.

Richard Hobbs will be taking up his new appointment in January next year.
