Latest issue of Insurance Facts, Figures And Trends published

The Association of British Insurers has issued the latest edition of Insurance Facts, Figures and Trends, 1994-1998. It provides a full review of long-term and general insurance, as well as covering important issues such as the value of insurance to the UK economy, the London Market, international insurance business and financial exclusion.

Key findings show that:

  • Net worldwide premium income from long-term insurance was £87.3 billion in 1998, 62% higher than in 1994.

  • Net worldwide premium income from general insurance was £35.8 billion, up 3% on 1994.

  • In 1997-98 average annual expenditure of all households on all forms of insurance (including personal pensions) was £1,220.
