Summer Floods - One year on


During June and July, widespread flooding throughout much of the UK resulted in loss of life, damage costing billions of pounds, and what was described as the biggest rescue effort in peacetime Britain. It was the largest and most costly natural catastrophe in the UK that insurers have had to handle. One year on, the impact of the floods is still being felt. Action is urgently needed to reduce the risk of floods on a similar scale reoccurring.
