Xavier Solano

Xavier Solano is the Assistant Director, Head of Prudential Regulation at the ABI. 

He leads the ABI’s work on prudential and operational resilience, overseeing a team of technical experts covering key areas such as Solvency UK, international standards, industry stress tests, reinsurance, the insurance resolution regime, liquidity risk, impact tolerances, cyber resilience, and the critical third parties regime, among others.

Xavier joined the ABI in 2020 from the London Stock Exchange Group. Prior to that, he held roles in the Westminster and Scottish Parliaments, as well as positions in various governments.

He began his career as a consultant in Barcelona, before moving to Edinburgh to serve as an adviser to the then Leader of the Opposition in the Scottish Parliament. 

Xavier holds a degree in Political Science and Public Administration, and a Master’s in International Business Management.
