Doug Brown

Doug joined Aviva in April 2021 as CEO of UK & Ireland Life Insurance*. He is a member of the Group Executive Committee reporting to Aviva Group CEO, Amanda Blanc.

Doug brings substantial, senior management experience from the Life Insurance sector, built over three decades in the industry.

Before joining Aviva, Doug led Canada Life’s UK business for six years where he transformed the operation to position it for growth. Before this he was Canada Life’s UK Chief Operating Officer.

Doug has held a number of other senior roles including Chief Operating Officer of Alico UK (subsidiary of AIG), Chief Executive Officer of Alico UK, Regional President of Alico (UK and Ireland), Head of Global, Bancassurance of Alico and Chief Risk Officer for Aviva Europe.

He also led AIG’s Employee Benefits Divisions in both the UK and Canada.

Doug qualified as a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in 1997.
