Steve has 21 years of experience in London Fire Brigade. He is currently the Borough Commander of Barking & Dagenham having transferred from being the Area Fire Safety Regulation Manager for North East London. He is acting Deputy Assistant Commissioner on the operational response rota. Steve has worked for the last 15 years on reducing the risk of fire to the vulnerable person, business engagement and business continuity in the City and the wider London area. He also has had significant involvement in the reduction of unwanted fire signals and reducing the impact of flooding. He is a member of several British Standard committees related to fire alarm systems, fire alarm monitoring centres and evacuation systems and he is particularly focussed on the use of assistive technology and Telecare to reduce fire risk within the care sector.
