Giorgis Hadzilacos is leading the Catastrophe Risk Specialty in the PRA providing support to the insurance supervision Division. As part of his role, he contributes to climate change projects across the Bank of England. Previous to this role, Giorgis spent 13 years helping organisations assess and manage catastrophe risk. He gained extensive experience within the re/insurance industry in Willis Towers Watson where he led the EMEA W/S catastrophe analytics team and before that in private consulting firms where he developed climate risk models for government and mining industries addressing weather and climate change risk. Giorgis has hands-on working knowledge with a wide range of catastrophe models and experience in assisting firms evaluate & validate catastrophe models across their different functions. Giorgis is a Chartered Civil Engineer and has worked in the UK, Australia and Greece after graduating from Imperial College London.
