David is a Director in Deloitte's Financial Services VAT group who advises the insurance industry on indirect tax issues. He has over 21 years of experience of specialising in indirect tax insurance advisory (all within the Big 4) and his clients include leading insurers, reinsurers, brokers and intermediaries in both the life and non-life sector.
David started his VAT career at the then HM Customs & Excise at Wembley VAT office as a VAT Assurance Officer in 1996. He joined KPMG in 1997 and was immediately thrown in to the world of insurance and has stayed there ever since. He joined Deloitte in 2007. Although David advises on a wide range of projects and issues in the indirect tax world, he has recently become a bit of a ‘Brexit specialist’. He has assisted insurance sector clients in the VAT aspects of the corporate restructuring transactions that have arisen directly as a result of a response to Brexit. He has also helped design and implement many post-Brexit operating models in order to achieve / retain VAT savings for clients where possible.
