Robert joined the old Inland Revenue in 1983 as a trainee inspector. He has worked in a succession of local districts and various technical and policy head office seats. Since 1998 he has been located in Scotland, in what is now Large Business in HMRC. He has been CCM for a number of insurance groups over the years and was heavily involved in the FA 2012 Life tax simplification. He temporarily escaped from the sector for a few years but is now back in the fold, and took over from John Duguid as Insurance sector lead last year.
