Catherine Burt is the National Head of Counter Fraud and head of the Motor Fraud team at DACB Claims Ltd. She has worked in the Defendant Personal Injury arena for many years with a background in complex and high value casualty claims before moving into counter fraud work when she joined DACB in 2008.
Catherine has been a partner in the counter fraud team since joining DACB and became National Head in 2015. She now has responsibility for a team of 125 lawyers underpinned by an Intelligence team of almost 30 intelligence staff. The team are based in Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast with links to the fraud team in the DACB Dublin office.
Catherine has experience of all types of motor and casualty fraud and leads on technical issues for the team. The focus of the team is, however not only on defending suspected fraudulent claims but also on preventing fraud at all stages of insurers' processes and Catherine works with the other partners in the team and with Kate Abrahams, Head of Intelligence, to analyse trends and behaviours to minimise their clients' exposure to fraud.
