Owen is Global Chief Underwriting and Data Officer for Aviva General Insurance, and Managing Director of Aviva’s global data science practice, Aviva Quantum.
He has global accountability for underwriting across our general insurance business and a passion for driving positive customer experiences and sustainable profitable growth. This will be driven through building leading underwriting and pricing in all our markets, adoption of consistent best-practice and leveraging global insight and shared expertise to drive world-class underwriting, pricing and data capability. In leading Quantum, a practice of over 700 data scientists and underwriters, Owen ensures that Aviva is at the leading edge of data science by using analytics across the value chain ensuring that we use our digital capability to promote insurance solutions against a market leading data strategy.
Prior to this, Owen was Managing Director of our Quote Me Happy (QMH) and General Accident business, Aviva’s online-only digital direct business. He became a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2006 and has been an active member of a number of research working parties covering elasticity modelling; model monitoring and validation; and fairness in insurance pricing. Owen co-chairs the Institute of Actuaries Diversity Analytics working party and is a current member of the EIOPA Expert Group on Digital Ethics in Insurance.
Owen was a board member of the Wherry School in Norwich, building and establishing a new purpose-built school for Autistic children and continues to champion neurodiversity in our business sector.
