Overview

A holistic look at retirement adequacy and understanding what it will mean for savers in their golden years, is long overdue. With the second phase of the Pensions Review on the horizon, this event will explore the intersections of wealth, employment, age and income to consider how households are equipped to maintain good living standards in later life. It will look at the need to save, the constraints on saving, and how these affect people differently.

Why should delegates attend?

  • To better understand how the current Automatic Enrolment (AE) system is performing in terms of delivering an adequate level of income in retirement.
  • To understand how the challenge of adequacy manifests across different social groups. For example, understand how factors such as income, wealth, age, employment status impact adequacy.
  • To hear The ABI and wider stakeholders’ thoughts on the future of AE and recommendations for improving the current level of saving.

By the end of this event, delegates will be able to:

  • Identify which groups in society are under-saving for retirement.
  • Describe potential solutions for how this could be addressed.
  • Outline the future of AE policy and how it needs to change in order to address the current problems.
