Andrew Chamberlain, Life Board, Institute and Faculty of Actuaries

Andrew was Chief Actuary of Just and a Director of Just Retirement Ltd and Partnership Life Assurance Company Limited until 1st December 2017 (retiring finally as from 31 December 2017) and was previously Partner, then Principal Actuary at Watson Wyatt/Towers Watson from 2000 – 2010.   From 2008 onwards, he was Actuarial Function Holder of Partnership Life Assurance Company, joining the staff on leaving Towers Watson and joining the Board.  He was Interim CRO from June 2015 until the merger with Just Retirement in April 2016

Andrew is a member of the Fairness Committee (which is also the With Profits Committee) for Reassure UK.

Andrew is proposed Chair of the Risk Committee of a planned new life insurance company.

Prior to that Andrew worked for Hill Samuel Life Assurance Limited, latterly as Director and Deputy Actuary, until 1990, and then spent four years as Chief Actuary and Life Company Director for Aetna UK before joining the Government Actuary’s Department in 1994 to advise the life assurance regulators, as Chief Actuary from 1996.

Andrew was Chair of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries Life Board from July 2016 to June 2018 and has previously been a member of Council and Chair of the Professional Regulation Executive Committee.  He gave evidence on behalf of the IFoA to the Treasury Select Committee inquiry into EU Insurance Regulation in January 2017.

Andrew becomes Chair of the Actuarial Standards Committee of the International Actuarial Association on 1st January 2019
