ABI Research conference Economic challenges and opportunities facing the UK

The threat of a recession and the fallout from the credit crunch are just two of the topics to be discussed at the ABI's (Association of British Insurers) first research conference, which will take place on Thursday 21 February at the ABI offices, 51 Gresham Street, London EC2V 7HQ.

Kate Barker, of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee leads the list of key speakers, which includes experts from Morgan Stanley, Citibank, the FSA and the Institute of Fiscal Studies.

Rebecca Driver, Director of Research at the ABI said:

"This is a crucial time for the UK economy, which makes this conference particularly relevant. It will discuss some of the key issues facing the economy, such as the housing market, reduced liquidity and debt levels and will look at the short and long term."
