ABI boosts its tax team

The ABI (Association of British Insurers) has appointed Paul Mortlock to join its busy tax team, with particular focus on corporate tax and financial services products.

As well as corporate tax issues, Paul's tax policy role will cover strategic input into a range of general insurance tax areas. Paul joins from insurers Amlin, where he was tax manager. Prior to that he worked for accountancy firms PwC and Robson Rhodes.

Paul said:

"I'm looking forward to working on a range of tax issues affecting the insurance industry, which pays the third highest amount of corporation tax of any industry."

Sarah Knight, the ABI's Assistant Director of Taxation, said:

"Paul will make a major contribution to the ABI, working with the Treasury and HM Revenue and Customs to ensure the insurance industry's interests and contributions are recognised."
