ABI comment on Environment Agency research into costs of 2012 floods

The Environment Agency has published new research which reveals that flooding in England in 2012 could have cost the UK economy close to £600million.

ABI Director General Otto Thoresen, comments:

"Sustained and targeted investment in flood defences, with the Government taking the lead, is essential to keep on top of the UK’s rising flood risk.

"Insurers play a crucial role in not only helping firms recover from the significant and expensive impact of a flood,  but also in offering help and advice to enable businesses to manage and minimise the flood risk.”
