ABI supports national ghost broking awareness campaign

The ABI is supporting the Get a Real Deal national campaign launched today (20 November 2013) to raise awareness of illegal 'ghost broking' scams among young motorists.

The campaign includes an animated video warning youngsters about being ripped off by fraudsters selling fake car insurance.

An ABI spokesperson said:

"While it is difficult to accurately quantify the size and scale of ghost broking, several high profile criminal convictions highlight that it remains a concern. And with consumers searching for competitively-priced motor insurance the issue is not going away.

"We know that certain groups, such as younger drivers, are more vulnerable to this crime and we believe that this campaign is both timely and needed to alert drivers to how to avoid these scams and drive legally with valid insurance.”

Get a Real Deal is a joint campaign between The Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED), The Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) and Crimestoppers UK.
