Green paper on young driver safety delayed

The Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport, Robert Goodwill MP, has announced a delay to the proposed Green Paper on young driver reforms which was due to be published before the Christmas recess.

James Dalton, Head of Motor at ABI said:

"This delay in publishing the Green Paper on young driver safety is disappointing news. The insurance industry has long-campaigned for meaningful reform to the way young people learn to drive. We remain fully committed to improving the road safety of young drivers and we will continue to make the case for our reforms. We look forward to meeting with Government early in the new year to talk about next steps. Action is urgently needed to ensure young driver motor insurance becomes affordable and more importantly to ensure fewer young people are killed and injured on our roads."
