ABI advice for travellers to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt

In light of the current Government advice on travelling to Sharm el-Sheikh, anyone booked to go to Egypt should speak to their tour operator, travel agent or air carrier in the first instance. Where alternative arrangements are made, travel insurance policies can usually be transferred to cover the new destination.

Similarly, all travellers in Egypt who cannot fly home should speak to their air carrier, tour operator or travel agent in the first instance to discuss alternative arrangements. Independent travellers should contact their travel insurer. While waiting to return home, travel policies will continue to provide cover in the normal way.

It’s important to check the FCO's travel advice. If you travel against government advice, you could be in breach of your travel insurance policy.
