ABI Advice: Travel insurance advice for customers with Lowcostholidays

The ABI understands that this will be a very difficult time for customers who have purchased a holiday through Lowcostholidays and advises people to:

  • Check with their travel insurer on the extent of any cover. Travel insurance will not typically cover costs incurred in the event a travel firm fails, the main purpose of travel insurance is to cover emergency medical expenses. It is however possible to purchase this as extra protection so you should check your policy and/or talk to your insurer to be sure.
  • If you are in your holiday destination already, you should contact the administrator, check advice from FCO and check your position with your travel insurer.
  • Lowcostholidays are not a UK based firm so would not be covered by compensation arrangements in place through ATOL.
