Tory manifesto references to tackling whiplash and nuisance calls will be backed by honest insurance customers.

Commenting on plans to further plans to tackle fraudulent whiplash in today’s Tory manifesto, James Dalton, Director of General Insurance Policy, Association of British Insurers, said:

“Honest motorists will welcome the continuation of the previous Government’s work to crack down on fraudulent whiplash claims, which contribute to higher insurance premiums faced by millions of motorists. Addressing this problem as part of wider reform to our broken down personal injury compensation system, will help ensure a fair insurance deal for all motorists and businesses”.

And on the governments further intention to tackle nuisance calls, he said:

“Millions of people under siege from nuisance calls will back the on-going crack down on them. Unscrupulous claims management companies are stoking the compensation culture by encouraging dishonest claims, that end up being paid for by honest customers through higher insurance costs. Tougher action against the compensation cowboys cannot happen soon enough.”
