Flybe airline collapse - consumer information

Following the collapse of Flybe...

MarkShepherd500x500Oct2019.jpgMark Shepherd, ABI’s Assistant Director, Head of General Insurance Policy, said:

"Passengers travelling with, or booked to travel with, Flybe will naturally be worried. Anyone affected by the airline’s collapse should contact their travel agent or tour operator for advice. If you paid for flights with a credit card you may be able to get a refund from your credit card provider. If no other consumer protections are available, then those passengers with Scheduled Airline Failure, End Supplier Failure or Travel Disruption cover included in their travel insurance should contact their insurance company as those types of cover can help as a last resort.

If you need to make alternative plans, speak to your travel insurer to see if your travel cover can be transferred to cover your new arrangements. If your flight is part of a travel package, then you may be able to claim under ATOL arrangements. For more information on this and fuller advice on the issue check with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) www.caa.co.uk"
