In response, ABI Director General Hannah Gurga said:  “The passing of the Planning and Infrastructure Act is a pivotal step towards unlocking investment and driving growth. Our members are committed to supporting the delivery of new homes and clean energy by investing billions in productive assets and infrastructure over the next decade.

This legislation provides a foundation for building resilience and strengthening communities against the impacts of climate change. While it is an important step forward, it’s vital that future planning reforms address remaining challenges, including ensuring that new homes are not built in areas at high risk of flooding. We look forward to engaging with the updated National Planning Policy Framework to help ensure that homes are built in the right places and to the right standards.”
