Chris Bose has been appointed Director of General Insurance & International at the ABI.
Chris will join the ABI on 11 August from Nationwide Building Society where he has worked for the past 10 years. He has led the Policy and Public Affairs function during this time and also served as Interim Director of Corporate Affairs. Prior to this, Chris worked in a variety of government affairs and policy roles in Santander and Lansons, as well as undertaking a secondment at HM Treasury.

Chris Bose – Biography
Chris is an experienced public policy practitioner with extensive expertise in financial services.
He has secured policy change that creates significant commercial value and delivered public affairs strategies which built the profile and influence of two leading financial services brands.
He led the public affairs function for Nationwide Building Society from 2015 to 2025, including a period as interim director of corporate affairs. Prior to Nationwide he was a senior manager in the public affairs team at Santander UK from 2013-2015. He started his career in consultancy at financial services advisory firm Lansons.
He is experienced in advising CEOs, Boards and Executive Committees on the impact of public policy and how to shape it.
He has policymaking experience, having seconded with HM Treasury during the pandemic and helped deliver a review for the then Chancellor on the future of payment systems in 2023.
Chris chaired the external affairs committee of UK Finance from 2023-2025 and represented Nationwide on the Council of the Building Societies Association.
