The TechSprint

The TechSprint was a two-day, idea creation event facilitated by the Department for Work and Pensions, HM Treasury and the Association of British Insurers. The event brought together participants from across and outside of the pensions industry. Close to one hundred delegates from a range of technology firms, gig economy platforms including Uber and Hermes, pension schemes, open banking, regulators and government officials gathered to explore ways to make it easier for self-employed people to save for retirement.

Next steps: The ABI and industry remain committed to exploring ways to address the problem of the self-employed not saving for their retirement. We will be working with Government and TechSprint participants to further explore ideas pitched at the event.
