ClimateWise is a global insurance industry collaboration focused on driving action on climate change risk.
The ABI was a founding member of ClimateWise in 2007, and has held a seat on the Managing Committee ever since. Members take part in collaborative projects, and agree to annually report their own organisation’s progress against seven principles, which in 2019 were aligned with the FSB Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure framework:
- Be accountable
- Incorporate climate-related issues into our strategies and investments
- Lead in the identification, understanding and management of climate risk
- Reduce the environmental impact of the business
- Inform public policy making
- Support climate awareness amongst customers/clients
- Enhance reporting’
The ABI produces a compliance report against the ClimateWise Principles in June each year.
