James has been a consumer campaigner and journalist for twenty years. Before launching the consumer group and ratings agencyFairer Financein 2014, he worked forWhich?, where he campaigned for a better deal for customers of banks and insurers, in the wake of the financial crisis. James regularly appears on TV shows such as Watchdog and Rip-Off Britain and writes a column in theDaily Telegraph. He is also a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute’s Professional Standards Committee. Before working atWhich?, James spent ten years as a business and finance newspaper journalist, latterly as theThe Independent'spersonal finance editor and cycling columnist. He lives with his wife and two children in Tooting, where he is also a local councillor.
