Mike is a social entrepreneur. For the past fourteen years he has led organisations that support people who struggle with numbers and data. The seeds of the idea for Plain Numbers were sown at National Numeracy, the charity he launched in 2012 and led until mid-2020. Mike and Plain Numbers co-founder, Alison Plant, launched the independent social purpose company with support from the Bank of England in late 2020. They conducted five Randomised Controlled Trials with firms in early 2021 and are now utilising their unparalleled knowledge of this largely hidden consumer vulnerability to support firms to communicate in a way that is clear, fair and never misleading.
