Lucy Ashton, Senior Policy Adviser, Conduct Regulation, ABI

Lucy Ashton Events Use.jpgLucy Ashton is a Senior Policy Adviser, Conduct Regulation, at the Association of British Insurers, leading on data protection and AI regulation. She is currently working with ABI members and engaging with regulators and the Government on how to help the insurance and long-term savings industry to put the Government’s 5 Principles for AI into practice. 

Lucy has a policy and communications background, having started her working life creating and implementing corporate and business to business public relations campaigns at international PR consultancies. One project involved raising awareness amongst UK business leaders and MPs about the potential of a new (in 1993) concept called the “information superhighway”!

Lucy holds the CIPP/E and CIPM data protection qualifications and BA degrees in Modern Languages from Bristol University and in the Practice and Theory of Art from the University of the Arts, London.  She wrote and illustrated a book, which was published by Transworld Publishers in UK, New Zealand and USA, when she was aged 12.
