Tom Reynolds, Chief Economist, Information Commissioner's Office

Tom reynolds.jpgTom is Chief Economist at the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent regulator of information rights including data protection.

He is responsible for ensuring that the ICO's activities are underpinned with expert economic analysis. His interests include understanding the value of data, and how the many benefits that it offers can be unlocked, while protecting individuals’ data and rights.

Tom's background is in regulatory and competition economics, and he was previously Head of Financial and Economic Modelling at Ofcom, the telecommunications regulator. He began his career working in economic consultancy.
