Welcome to our new website. I should say from the outset that I am not trying to sell you anything. The ABI doesn’t sell insurance products but instead works on behalf of the UK insurance industry to help customers understand a bit more about insurance and saving, and to bring about policy change.
Insurance helps people to get on with their lives. Families go on holiday, teenagers buy their first car, couples move into their first home and people retire having insured themselves against the unexpected or saved into a pension.
Insurance means businesses can keep trading, workers are protected against accident or injury and Governments can call on the investment potential of the UK’s big insurance players to help the economy grow.
These are just some of the ways the ABI’s members contribute to society. At its best the UK insurance industry gives us all the confidence to go about our business, knowing that there is a safety net if things go wrong.
We hope our new website will answer some of the questions you might have about insurance. We have included a glossary which we hope will help with some of the technical jargon.
