Hundreds to attend Pensions Dashboard Prototype roadshows

Five roadshow events to showcase the Pensions Dashboard prototype to members of the long-term savings industry, financial advisers and a wide range of other stakeholders are due to be attended by nearly 500 people.

The events, being convened by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) in their role as project managers, will involve a demonstration of the prototype system, recently presented to ministers, ahead of discussions about how a future service should be developed and operated for the good of pension savers.

The sessions are designed to encourage challenge and flush out some of the problems which need to be overcome before a system of multiple pensions dashboards can be made available for public use.

Events are being held in London today and tomorrow before the roadshow is taken to Birmingham and Edinburgh during May, where it will be hosted by Phoenix Group, Scottish Widows and Standard Life.

Rob Yuille, Head of Retirement Policy at the ABI, said:

“The Pensions Dashboard prototype project, managed by the ABI, has demonstrated the technological hurdles to retrieving and presenting pensions data online can be overcome. The crucial next stage of this work is to put the right framework in place to ensure the public can use this data in practice with the help of trusted services, ready for the Government’s deadline of 2019. These roadshow events are an important part of identifying the right way forward, and it’s great that so many people are interested in contributing to this project.”

The Pensions Dashboard prototype met its deadline to demonstrate to Government ministers in March. Read more about what the project has achieved and which firms were involved at www.pensionsdashboardproject.uk, where you can also view a video explaining how the prototype works.
