In response to the Department for Work and Pension's consultation released today on Collective Defined
Contribution Pension Schemes, the ABI's Head of Retirement Policy, Rob Yuille, said:
“Collective Defined Contribution (CDC) pension schemes are worth exploring and we will work closely with the Government to do this. While they may be the right solution for Royal Mail, when looking at the wider application it is important to consider the challenges as well as the opportunities involved. CDCs are no silver bullet and there are still a number of questions that need answering such as how to ensure intergenerational fairness, how they will be fairly regulated and how they will interact with pensions freedoms.”
