Julian Adams appointed Deputy Chair of the ABI

Julian Adams, Director, Public Policy and Regulation at M&G plc, holding company of the Prudential Assurance Company, has been appointed Deputy Chair of the Association of British Insurers (ABI). He will serve alongside Chair Jon Dye until summer 2020. Julian has been an ABI Board member since 2016.

Biography

Julian became Director of Public Policy & Regulation of M&G plc earlier this year after 4 and a half years in a similar role at Prudential plc.

Prior to this he was Executive Director of Insurance Supervision at the Bank of England, a role he held from April 2013.

He had also served in a similar role at the Financial Services Authority. He chaired the Financial Stability Committee of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors and also sat on its Executive Committee. He was the UK’s Board member of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority, sat on its Management Board and was a member of the Mediation Panel.

Tulsi Naidu will join Jon Dye, Julian Adams and Bronek Masojada as a member of the Board’s Appointments & Remuneration Committee.

Barry O’Dwyer has accepted the invitation to return to the Board in his new role as Group CEO, Royal London.
