Ben Howarth

Manager, Climate Change & Open Data Policy

Ben is the ABI’s Manager for Climate Change and Open Data policy. As part of this, he leads a cross-organisational taskforce on climate change and co-ordinates the ABI’s work on data issues, including the ongoing response to the FCA’s work on Open Finance. Prior to taking up this role in 2021, Ben worked in the Director General’s office as DG Business Manager, focussing on policy and market analysis. As part of this, he was part of the project team that launched the Covid-19 Support Fund.

He joined the ABI in 2015 and was previously Senior Policy Adviser for Motor and Liability – where he was responsible for the ABI’s work on automated driving, the ECJ Vnuk judgement, CMC regulation and road safety. He was then the ABI’s Brexit Manager on a secondment basis between March and September 2018. Before joining the ABI, he was Research Manager at EUK Consulting, having previously worked at DeHavilland and in an MP’s office.
