Ruth Power

Ruth is a Catastrophe Risk Consultant within the international Consultancy team at JBA Risk Management. Her role includes responsibility for portfolio analysis services predominantly for the re/insurance industry. Ruth has extensive experience in probabilistic catastrophe modelling, exposure and portfolio management within the London Market. Her catastrophe modelling experience includes modelling a range of perils, including North Atlantic windstorm, UK/European flood, earthquake and tornado/hail, for a number of territories.

Ruth’s background includes a BBS majoring in Risk Management; the focus of her research project was property catastrophe risk with a focus on Hurricane Katrina. While working in the London Market Ruth also completed a Natural Hazards postgraduate certificate at University College London where her dissertation included a risk assessment of storm surge in the Northeast US.

Ruth’s knowledge in the practical use of catastrophe modelling has given her insight into the workings of catastrophe models as well as their ever-expanding functions within risk management divisions.
